can me some experince user comments or no advice on the Yamaha yht-170. in buying it for a small 10x12 foot room with wooden floor.

Its hard to go wrong with Yamaha.
However, the most important thing is what is the position of the appropriate forums. Try the speakers on the left channel a few feet from the TV screen on the left and the same thing you are doing and share with the right.
Keep the speakers to the central canal in the vicinity of the screen as possible (preferably below / next), then do my best to bring surround left and right and up behind his head, where most of the time.
When the position at the back of the room, place the speakers on the top left corner and your right, and show your ears (also sit as the effect of a helmet is known to believe, but I surround effects sound great as .
Finally, make sure that your audio source (from your cable box or satellite receiver and DVD player) sends digital audio (optical or digital coaxial or HDMI ... if the Yamaha entries below).
